My dear friend Florence told me about Jaclyn Hill back in 2013. Oh how I wish I had listened to her then! I have missed out on nearly three years of YouTube legacy. For those of you who are, as I was until recently, in the dark about Jaclyn Hill, let me bring you into the light. She is a YouTube beauty vlogger and professional makeup artist. She posts tutorials and product reviews, and is a bloody makeup goddess in my opinion. The woman has shown me how to do things with my face that I did not know were possible.
She recently collaborated with Becca to bring the world some Jaclyn Hill realness in the form of her highlighter, a new shade of the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector; Champagne Pop. Now, I may be a sucker for a celebrity collaboration but for this product I wasn’t going to be won over that easily. The product retails for $60AUD, which was very painful. For that price, I want my face to shine like the top of the Chrysler building.
Does it? It does.
This highlighter is unlike anything I have used before. Before this, my go to was either Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle (still one of my holy grail products), Mac Strobe Cream (again, holy grail) or Nars Illuminator in Orgasm. But Champagne Pop delivers a megawatt shine that made my jaw drop. I literally felt like my cheekbones had been kissed by angels – a slight exaggeration but I think you get my point. To cap it all, it stays on all day. I am a put-it-all-on-and-let-nature-do-its-work kind of girl. I don’t touch up my makeup throughout the day, but still would like to be able to see some traces of it by the time I get home in the evening. And even in the sticky Sydney heat, this baby shone throughout the whole afternoon. It almost makes me sad when I have to take it off at night.
So, in case you haven’t guessed it by now, I love this product. Would I recommend it? Yes. Would I buy it again? Yes. Am I currently counting down the hours until I can put it on again? Oh god yes. Bravo Jaclyn, you have done me proud.
